A 6-day undeniably memorable journey on a writing escapade
I’ve always loved to write. It comes naturally to me to express myself through written words. I entered the world of content writing by joining my college’s core content team. I created social media post descriptions, wrote formal business emails to our sponsors, and prepared official invites to other colleges.
I’m adapting to online content writing and content marketing methods thanks to a pool of articles I’ve read over the past few years and my super cooperative interest in writing. Writing website content is not an easy task. Learning necessitates a great deal of imagination, patience, and dedication. Simultaneously, missing deadlines is not an option. Furthermore, the finished product must be clear, informative, and enjoyable. So, while content writing is a massive task, it is gratifying to enjoy what you write.
My dad stumbled upon an advertisement for Content Vidhya on Facebook. Since he was supportive of my passion for writing, he told me about the workshop. I was more than thrilled to dive into the world of content writing deeper.
Big thanks to the lovely Ms. Uma Madhavi for leading this excellent workshop; I’ve learned a lot about content writing, its fundamentals, what to do and what not to do, the benefits of becoming a content writer, and much more. I’ve learned that online copywriting plays an important role. Still, it’s not easy and can be very dull at times, especially if the products/services you write about are arid.
The road to content writing is, indeed, not an easy one. It necessitates a lot of brainstorming. There is a lot of research to be done on the company and business markets. The most challenging part, however, is coming up with ideas. It takes a toll on your grey matter to come up with good ideas worth writing about that are also consistent with your company’s mission and strategy. Anyone can write, but not everyone can generate ideas. That is what separates other writers from copywriters.
What I learned in the workshop
In my brief time in the workshop, I discovered a few fundamental principles that a good content writer should always adhere to:
1. Experiment with different word combinations: Avoid using everyday words; instead, demonstrate a basic understanding of the English dictionary.
2. Specific keywords must be highlighted: This will also aid in search engine optimization (SEO), which will increase the quality of traffic to your website while capturing the reader’s attention.
3. Be succinct and to the point: Don’t end up leaving any ambiguity in work; it will cost you the customer. Your concept should quickly enter the consumer’s mind. Provide appealing material in a short time to entice the consumer to do more research.
4. Limit yourself to one main component: It is simple to overthink the process and render your work ineffective. Too many ideas in a single article will taint your work. Allow the reader to focus on one theme at a time. Please do not mix them up.
5. Proofread, proofread, proofread: Check what you’ve written twice. Make sure that the grammar and language used are correct. Jargons in business may be ineffective because your customers will not understand them.
Above all, never stop reading! Read as much high-quality content as you can.
